International premiere Secrets Of War at Toronto Film Festival
Successful children’s film SECRETS OF WAR will have its international premiere at the 39th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival in September. The film is shown as part of the TIFF Kids Programme.
Producers Reinier Selen (Rinkel Film) and Harro van Staverden (Bijker Film & TV) already received this great news in July, but were not allowed to make it public until today. Karen van Holst Pellekaan (COOL KIDS DON’T CRY, JACKIE) turned Jacques Vriens’ bestseller into a gripping screenplay. Director Dennis Bots Pellekaan (COOL KIDS DON’T CRY, THE HOUSE OF ANUBIS) has been invited by the festival to attend the international premiere in Toronto. SECRETS OF WAR has a chance of winning the Grolsch People’s Choice Award.
The film, which stars Maas Bronkhuyzen, Joes Brauers, Pippa Allen, Nils Verkooijen, Loek Peters and Eva Duijvestein, has been selected for many other international and national festivals including Kristiansand, the Netherlands Film Festival and Cinekid. SECRETS OF WAR had already been sold before its release (on 3 July 2014) to countries such as Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Estonia solely on the basis of its trailer. Sales Agent Sola Media expects many more countries to follow after the international premiere in Toronto. COOL KIDS DON’T CRY, the hit film made by the same team, secured the Audience Award at the TIFF Children’s Film Festival in 2012.
