RECAP Marionettes and Arianne Hinz at WomanInFan - Sitges FF

Here’s a RECAP of Arianne’s incredible journey at the WomanInFan Filmlab 2024 during the SITGES International Fantastic Film Festival in Catalonia from October 3 to 13!

Last year, Arianne’s short film Days of Spring, which served as a proof of concept for her feature film Marionettes, had its international premiere at this important film festival.

This year Arianne Hinz’ feature film Marionettes was selected to participate in the festival’s WomanInFan Fantastic Recidency, where selected filmmakers will participate in various activities to support their development, including workshops, masterclasses, one-on-one mentorships and expert meetings.The leadership of fantastic films is traditionally entrusted to male creators and the WomanInFan Filmlab was born with the aim to vindicate the role of the female filmmaker within the fantasy genre.

Arianne Hinz: ‘What an amazing experience! Hearing so many female filmmakers talk about their experiences in film made me realise that it’s even more necessary than I thought to create opportunities for women to tell fantastic stories from our perspective. So so thankful to be part of this; I learned so much and met many interesting people, some of which are my idols; a truly unforgettable experience!

We are honored to be part of this meaningful program and look forward to contributing to the ongoing dialogue about gender representation in cinema.
