Reinier Selen selected for the prestigious Inside Pictures-programme
Today the prestigious Inside Pictures published its list of this year’s participants and among them: producer Reinier Selen (Rinkel Film). The professional training programme was created by Qwerty Films (UK) and presented by the National Film & Television School. It’s designed for industry executives from Europe and the U.S. – to develop the practical knowledge, skills and high level contacts needed to lead successful businesses.
After graduating from art college with a major in documentary film directing, Selen decided he wanted to produce instead, which resulted in his first hit: the critically acclaimed short THE BICYCLE (1998). Since founding Rinkel Film in 1997, he has brought several award-winning features to the big screen, such as BACKSLIDE, NOTHING PERSONAL, SÜSKIND and COOL KIDS DON’T CRY. The company co-produced five international films in the last three years, which have garnered prizes at festivals all over the world. Rinkel Film enjoys a good reputation, both domestically and abroad, and has built a strong international network.
Inside Pictures, the intensive film business training and leadership skills development programme in which Reinier Selen and twenty-three other filmmakers from all disciplines will participate, is supported by the MEDIA Programme of the European Union. The programme is modular and will take place in London and Los Angeles, from June till November. The knowledge that Inside Pictures has to offer in the fields of project development, financing, marketing, and distribution, as well as the top tier tutors and speakers, make the programme a great addition to Selen’s résumé.
In 2005 he already took part in the ‘creative writing programme’ (initiated by the Binger Filmlab) and, in 2006, in the European EAVE Programme. In 2008 Selen represented the Netherlands as ‘Producer On The Move’ at the 2008 Cannes International Film Festival. The latter resulted in an invitation for the Producers Lab Toronto 2010. He is a member of the European Film Academy.
Rinkel Film has already released two new feature films in 2014: ACCUSED and LOVE ETERNAL. Two more: SECRETS OF WAR and BRAND NEW-U will reach cinemas this summer.
Reinier Selen’s participation is made possible in part by a contribution from the Netherlands Film Fund’s training-program and an Inside Pictures scholarship.
